How soon will I know if I have been accepted on the program?
The application deadline is January 20, 2017. We will confirm if you have a place on the program within 10 days of the application deadline. Please ensure you have completed all aspects of the submission process correctly (we need your application form, $35 application fee, portfolio images and a letter of recommendation).
Do you offer 100% scholarships?
We offer $1,000 work study scholarships for the full 8 week program and $500 work study scholarships for the 4 week June or July programs.
When do I need to pay my $500 deposit and program fees?
The $500 program deposit must be paid within 10 days of confirmation that you have a place on the program. The remaining balance of program fees is due by March 15, 2017.
Is student housing shared?
Yes, we provide double and triple-occupancy bedrooms in our apartments.
Where is the housing located?
We think it is very important that our students get to experience the real Rome. Since our first program in 2009 we have always offered housing in central and historic parts of Rome.
Are meals included?
Meals are not included. Students are able to self cater using fully appointed kitchens within the apartments.
Can I arrange my own housing?
Returning Rome Art Program alumni can arrange their own housing if preferred. All other students live in shared Rome Art Program apartments whilst on the program. Housing cost for Rome Art Program shared apartments is covered by the housing and student services fee.
Do I need a special visa to visit Italy?
No visa is required for US citizens visiting Italy for less than 90 days.
Is my travel covered in the fees?
Your travel on official program field trips outside of Rome is included in your activity fee. You are responsible for your own travel expenses to and from Rome at the beginning and end of program – we do not cover your airfare or transfers to and from the airport.
How many scholarships do you offer each year?
Our scholarship allocation varies from year to year based on the standard of applications and the funds available for scholarships which are provided by donations and benefits.
Are there classes everyday throughout the program?
We are an intensive program with weekday classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. During these days students attend painting, drawing and art history classes on site in Rome.
Are there classes at weekends?
Weekends are kept free. Students can choose to relax in Rome or travel throughout Italy.
Can I get a refund if I decide to drop out of the program?
The $35 application fee and $500 program deposit are non-refundable. However, under special circumstances we can offer a partial refund of program fees if you apply to withdraw more than 30 days in advance of the beginning of the summer program (June 1, 2017). Withdrawals submitted later than 30 days before the program starts will not be refunded.
