We accept applicants based on merit. Your portfolio images and letter of recommendation are key components in our selection process. We accept applicants with limited experience who show a great deal of potential (with the understanding that this is an intensive program where students work on site 6+ hours per day). We accept applicants currently working toward degrees in other fields who have a vested interest in art. We accept applications from artists who wish to renew their studio practice. All participants must have a minimum professional working proficiency of the English language. Application Dates, Deadlines, & Terms All applicants must pay a non-refundable $45 application fee Work/Study scholarship applications are referred to our scholarship panel who make their decision after the receipt of your completed application. A non-refundable $500 program deposit must be paid within 10 days of confirmation of a place on the program or by the deposit deadline (January 1, 2026 for Early Admission; February 1, 2026 for General Admission), whichever comes first. If your deposit is not received in time, your place on the program is at risk. Final payment of balance of program fees for Early Admission is. required by January 15, 2026. Program Fees for General Admission is required by February 15, 2026. We offer no refund for withdrawal from the program within sixty (60) days of the full program start date. Italian visas are not required for study abroad under 90 days if you are a US national. UK nationals, Canadian citizens, and European (EU) citizens also do not require a visa to attend Rome Art Program. All other non-US nationals should confirm their own country’s rules and regulations for study abroad in Italy under 90 days. Unless special permission is granted, all students are required to reside in RAP Student Housing for the duration of the Program. RAP Student Housing is for RAP participants only. No overnight guests are permitted in RAP Student Housing. All students are required to have travel and medical insurance before arrival in Rome.
